Eco Innovations Charity Project in Africa

History
Eden Farm was originally established by Ben and Brenda Pitout as a working Farm to train local Zambians in farm management and the development of self sufficiency skills. Life Support funded the building of a school for
vulnerable children in the Soweto township of Chingola. Along with the school Life Support was also contributing to the financing of the work of ‘Arms of Love’, a project caring for the street children of Ndola.
In the summer of 2002 Ashley Martin, Director at Eco Innovations went to Eden Farm for a charity mission with 11 of his friends led by Nathanael Edwards. Since then the farm has been donated to Nathanael and he has made some very positive changes to the farm. In October 2009 he officially started the charity "Life Support", registered as a UK charity, with a vision to support orphans, widows and vulnerable young adults in Zambia. The birth of Eden Farm Children’s Village followed shortly afterwards.
This has led the charity to start Eden Farm Children’s Village, based on farmland on the outskirts of Chingola, Zambia. This provides homes and protection for orphans and vulnerable children in the area. It also provides
a safe haven and a loving, hopeful atmosphere where children are brought up knowing they are precious, providing a positive future for them.
Since 2009 Life Support have been working on the restoration of the farm. The main farm house has been restored
and three dwellings built for the key workers. The ‘Volunteer Center’ a large house with dormitories for teams to visit and work on the farm is also near completion. In 2010 work began on the first children’s house and the first family moved in during April 2011. Eden Farm Children’s Village also supports 2 street boys who are currently at
boarding school and six other vulnerable children at home through support to the family.
A small school has also been set up to educate these children and is currently in the process of being officially linked to the local government run school.
